Oem Tire Size Question ...

Howdy all. Newbie question for you.

I notice the 08 Silverado has 4 OEM tires sizes. Are these sizes interchangeable? Meaning can you put a set of these various sizes on the truck without worrying about clearance issues, speedometer issues etc ...? I know you'd have to change the wheel size.

The reason I ask is my 08 has the 20 inch wheels and I'm thinking of going with the 18 or 17 inchers when I have to buy new tires down the road. Thx.

Hi Dave and welcome to GMT!! If you have 20"s now and want to go to 18"s or 17"s there is no problem. As long as your wheel is 17" or larger diameter your fine. Just calculate the tire size you want. i.e. 265/65/18 is (265*65)/1270+18 = 31.6" tall tire. You will start to see a 1-2 mph change as you get an inch above or below the standard tire size -larger tires = slower speedometer, smaller tires = faster speedometer. Also make sure you match all of you wheel and tires sizes accordingly. Keep us posted on what you decide and include Pics of your ride.... :dunno:
