Hi everyone....6.0 with 118k it does a weird thing.Cold start up the oil pressure stays at 20. After driving for about 10 minutes it finally raises up to the 40ish range.... changed the oil and had them add GM eos just in case but no change... It will tick with the low pressure until it "decides" to raise itself up..

Thanks

You should have higher oil pressure on cold start up and lower as it gets hot. Not the other way around.

First, you need to determine what the pressure is actually doing with an external gauge. It's very possible that your sending unit is bad.

Ok, sending unit is ok - the pressure at cold is 25.... finally builds to 40 after warmup - 10-15 minutes... the tech is now stumped. Also makes a rattle until it's warmed up....

Help

Maybe the screen in the oil pickup is partially clogged? No "mechanically OK" engine has less oil pressure on cold start than when hot.
