Remote Start Prep Package

If your vehicle is equipped with this package (code AP8), what do you need to do to get full remote start capability? Just buy a new remote, or is something else required?

And what the heck is the option code ROO (BARS VOMS BAILMENT)?

You have to buy the remote start prep kit (part number 17801236). It costs 195 at GM, but you can get it off ebay for like 160. You also have to pay for install which is another 75-100 dollars.

The kit contains 2 new key fobs and a code that the dealer has to call in to reprogram your trucks BCM to start without a key. There is no way around this, you have to buy the kit and pay for install.

Edit: I just noticed you have an 06, everything I stated was for the GMT900. I'm not sure about the GMT800.

Thanks. My question was in reference to a new '09 GMT 900 that had the prep package. I do nto believe GM makes a remote start retrofit package for GMT800s. I would have to go aftermarket on my present truck.
