Radio Power Line

I've searched the forums and found some ideas on where to tap into a positive ignition source to power up my Sirius radio, but what I am looking for is a place to tap in that will work with the radio, where the unit will stay on with the radio even if I take the key out, until the door is opened.

I think I may be SOL because the newer radios work off of signal wires and not actual 12V+ sources. I looked in the fuse panel at the left of the dash and did not see any fuses marked "radio".

Any ideas?

Thnaks.

Search this forum for RAP (Retained Accessory Power). It will keep the Sirius on with the radio until a door is opened. I tapped into a wire in the junction block up behind the brake pedal. There are some pictures on the forum here that tell you where to look exactly.

I used the RAP power to signal a relay on and off and actually used power that I pulled from one of the cigarette lighter circuits to actually run the Sirius. This way, I wasn't pulling too much power off of the signal wire because I don't know exactly where it goes or what it runs so I didn't want to take away from it.

You will want to tap into the yellow wire in the bluish green connector. I just ran from this to a relay for the signal to the relay. Then I ran power from the cigarette lighter to the relay and then out of the relay to another cigarette lighter. That way I could use the cigarette lighter plug that came with the Sirius to power my unit. My sportster 5 uses a 5V power source so I needed to be able to step 12V down to 5V and in theory I can remove the sirius wiring from my truck if I ever need to. That kit you're looking at doesn't look too bad either. PM me if you have more questions.
