Adding Trac Contol Button

I have a guy that i work with and he has a 08 GMC extended cab 4WD and i was lookiing at it and he doesnt have the traction control/stability trac "off" button. Can you add this and i thought that they all came with this. His truck has leather, dual climate control, 20in wheels, DIC, Steering wheel controls so i was surprised that it didnt have it. If you can, anyone have a part number?

Thats wierd, mine has it. The button is down between the power outlets.

I do know it was standard on the CC but on the EC truck it was optional

The wiring for the button is already in place on my 08 EC. It is stored in the cubby hole that is in place of the row of buttons. I seriously doubt that it is just as simple as adding the button though. Certainly there is programming involved, and who knows what else.

The part number for the cubby that has the single traction control switch is 15907022 and it sell for 12.88 on GM partsdirect.com. Hey if this doesnt work, it was only 20 bucks right?

i bet it is plug and play, the DIC is and its just another way to add an option to the vehicle. They wire alot in and just add different things as different packages. Now i just have to find the part number for the smaller cubby hole.

mine is a button with 2 squiggly road lines on it.

That includes the switch and smaller cubby hole as one unit.

i just pulled my panel to look at it to see if i could find a part number and mine has 15907026. Its discription on Gm parts direct comes up as switch and neither have a picture. I got the pn off of a sticker on the pocket not the switch. I wonder if it has to do with mine being a Chevy.

OK, let me correct myself. The diagram shows a cubby pn 15848245 for 4.51 that holds the switches. It appears to be the same cubby for all switch combinations. The pn 15907022 I think is just the switch for trac control. Sorry for the confusion.

My '08 Silverado Extended Cab LTZ has StabiliTrak and Traction Control as a $425 option. I was under the assumption that StabiliTrak was only available on the EC trucks with the HD trailering package that was part of of the LTZ package.

Even if you add the button on the dash, I would think that there would be a PCM flash required to make the system work. If the factory made it a $425 option, then there has to be be much more to StabiliTrak than adding a $15 switch.

Idunno. Wasn't the DIC part of a 1200 option? And thats only $112 for the switch and a new panel. I realize that there was more to the package than jsut the DIC for $1200, but still that was just plug and play.

All of the wire bundles are there for any option that you can add to the model you buy so in my case i have a LT. Everything is there for the LT options.....without the options added. It the most cost effective way to push them down the line. case in point, The DIC. You can get the panel with the switch at the dealer for 110. or you can buy the switch and the panel that accomidate the switch seperatly for 85.

Guys,

There is several sensors in the vehicle which help control the Stabilitrack System....I can't remember the name of the sensor(Yaw Sensor?) but I think one hides under the Center Console/Passenger Seat which detects if any part of the truck loses control and then begins to apply the brake. I also think that the Brake Booster/Master Cylinder setup maybe a little different. I'm going to say that it would cost way more than its worth to add it.

if nothing else, would he be able to turn off Traction control.....and on another note my father-in-laws WT 2008 has the trac contol/stability trac button we are talking about. I thought ALL gm trucks have stabilitrac
