Rusted Brake Lines On A 2001 Silverado

well after the all most 4 feet of snow in the last week my 2001 Silverado 2500 light duty ext cab sort bed decided to loose a brake line at the ABS control module. So the question is how much FUN it this going to be to replace and what are my options.

Thanks

I'm taking about the metal HARD LINES not the brake hoses.

Same happened to me on my '99 about 2 months ago. I ended up paying a local shop a bit over $700 to replace all of the hard lines and the flex lines as well.

If I was home and had a garage to work in, I'd have done it myself using bulk line and a flare tool; but it probably would have taken me a week.

i thought those were fuel lines..mine are spotted with rust also...shit i have to lay off the rock...where do the fuel lines run then?

Fuel lines and brake lines both run down the drivers side frame rail. I believe the fuel lines are higher up on the frame rail then the brake lines.

Another option is the universal stainless steel lines at many garages etc..They come in various lengths and unless your doing some wild or crazy bends can be bent without special tools.Price is usually pretty cheap too.

One of mine went also near the ABS unit a few weeks ago. Took it to the shop. Screw working on that in the winter, lol. Had them do all of the metal lines. I can do the rubber ones at a later date. Also had them replace some rusty fuel line.

So...brakes went out on the way to hardware store...rolled into a little Firestone garage. they got it up on the rack and wow...completely rusted out, brake fluid just oozing out.

They're wanting $1,700!!!!

I don't know what my options are. help! please?

Slide on down to the GM dealer and purchase the line. Take it to a shop that can bleed brakes and drop it off... The ABS Module will have to be bleed. I don't think the Kelsey Hayes 325 is bench bleed-able. I think a scan tool has to do it.
