Gmc Sierra 4wd Ftw

We got blasted today with 10 more inches of snow. I have always been, and remain, impressed with the GMC 4WD (ex ford guy).

that thing is like an M1 Tank in the snow. Not sure how they do it, but, don't care. this truck has the best winter driving ability of any truck I have ever owned. All of my Fords thought they were snow-boards, no matter what you did.

(they don't do much with the roads around here... kinda left on your own for a few days).

In any case.... LOVE the GMC and its winter driving characteristics.

Sorry, just couldn't keep it bottled up anymore. :D

I have driven three different Expeditions at work (2 2003-2004s, and 1 2007)...in a word...TERRIBLE in the snow...

It's like Ford went out of their way to make the 4WD system horrible. Of course, that is what you get when you have a sad, pathetic excuse for a rear differential.

My MUCH superior GM product grows claws when you put it in Auto 4WD or 4-High. Nothing can stop it...and my tires need replacing...

As is always the case...Ford could learn a thing or two from GM on how to do it right.

I heard through the grapevine that ford was adding a new feature (option) to the F150 due the all of the snow this year.

Its option code x67 which adds a Heated Tailgate (availible with or without the "man step")

Ford said that this is one of their "Better Ideas" and helps to keep the drivers hands warm while he is pushing the truck through the SNOW.

Ha Ha! I could've used a heated tailgate on my Tundra! Nothing beats getting the frame hung up and watching one tire in the front and one in the rear spin. That's what I got for sending a truck to do a Sierra's job, which I have now!

Love that grill Frank!

Yessir I have to agree.....took my truck down to a spot by the lake and put it in 4hi....not one bit of spin....just steady traction in the snow....loved it!

off topic, but what size tires are on your denali? got more pics?

actual thread contribution: i agree the 4WD capability of these trucks is amazing. even with my mediocre LS2's i get around very easily.

My AWD TBSS was just stupid good in the snow and ice. Even better than my '02 Z71.

I was just amazed in that thing every time the weather got bad.

+1 to that. I liked my truck when I had it as far as snow went - once I got the BFGs put on...and I was a little concerned when I traded it for the TBSS. However, after going through my first winter with it..I am extremely pleased. I wasn't sure what to expect from the AWD but it is just fantastic. I haven't even gotten close to getting stuck and I live on horribly long gravel driveway (on an aggressive angle) and an even worse gravel road to my driveway.

Thanks, a carriage works bolt-on.... Love It.

I took it off recently one afternoon, and the truck looked naked without it.

I get a lot of comments on it. For a bolt over, it is tops.

:D Our 2003 Company F150 really pales in comparision. Both 4WD Crew Cab Short Boxes. It's astounding! :smash:

And I'm still running the original stock tires! :happysad:

I have never had a problem in the snow with my '01 Silverado, but I believe my '86 Jeep Commanche was better. I used to take that thing up steep unplowed logging roads and never had any doubts. I don't know if I would do that with this truck, maybe I'm just not that fearless anymore. :D

Yeah...my grandma's V8 Rainier is nuts in the snow as well. It just goes.

Love my GMC 4x4...Saturday I went to the gun show and it was so crowded that I parked it in one of the fields along with a bunch of other 4x4's...1 1/2 feet of snow, I was a little worried when I pulled in as it was downhill and I knew I had to go back up to leave and on top of it I have 44,000 miles on the original tires.

Well on the way out as I was walking to my truck they were towing a foolish car that only made it 10 feet in and got stuck...a modified jeep with large tires was spinning but finally got out and there were two Ford trucks just sitting and spinning all 4 wheels...now I'm scared, I get in a and put it in 4 wheel low and proceed to pull out without as much as spinning a tire...the Ford guys just watched as I went by.

I must admit though that my 4x4 Ford Ranger with it's large tires is pretty good in the snow too.
