Cel

Hi guys was wondering if any1 has had this happen. On saturday i got my Black Bear tune, and on monday on my way back to work the CEL came on. It was on prior to tune, because I installed longtube headers a couple weeks before tune. I taught the tune was suppose to take care of the CEL. The light was off after tune but came back on. Let me know what you guys think.

2008 silverado 4.8 RCSB mods: GMPP CAI, Long tubes, Magnaflow exhaust, and BB tune.

That light concerns me, and also is an eye sore

I bet you have 2 Codes, and I bet they are P0134, and P0154. I'm probably right because those Longtube headers probably didn't have any places for the Upstream O2 sensors.

There are many things that can set off the CEL, without knowing what code has been stored in the computer, no one can even suggest what is wrong.

If you get a new ECM you need to do a crank position relearn which Justin takes care of for live tunes. I would find someone with a code scanner or go to AutoZone and find out what code is stored, then we can start helping you.

Just back from AutoZone and their reader wouldnt work......just kept saying reading on screen. Another guy was waiting for the reader after me, and they plugged it on his car and the reader worked pretty fast.

Sorry for the delayed response, Justin was delayed getting out of Dallas due to weather and didn't get home until last night. He checked your tune, and there was no reason to expect this code, however, looking up GMs calibration service, the P1133 and P1153 is common in the 08s. We have the calibration update here, and all you have to do is send your computer in, and Justin will get it sorted out for you.

You should have an email in your Inbox from Justin, he replied earlier today.

For the record guys. It wasn't the tune that made the CEL come on. Its a GM callibration update that needs to be installed. The headers didn't help, but CEL would have came on eventually even if the truck was stock. I recommend everyone get a black bear tune, its the best mod you can do to your vehicle. Thanks again Justin and all at Black Bear. Very happy customer

Best take-away from this experience - for anyone else reading this - is to ask your dealer *before your PCM is tuned* if your truck is due for any system updates. At least start with a clean slate.

Or get a spare set of computers with the latest updates.
