Adding Bose To My Truck! What Do I Need

Recommended Posts

Like it says I would like to add BOSE to my truck. I dont want to add aftermarket when I can get BOSE from factory.

Do i need another radio?

I know I will need the amp and subwoofer but is it even possible?

sounds like a huge waste of money to me, but i am sure it can be done.

Agreed... it's a COLOSSAL waste of money. You can get about 1000x better sound quality from aftermarket speakers and amps. You can even keep the factory headunit if you really want to.

Dam hard to beleive!

Going to look into it some more before I make up my mind though

How is that so hard to believe? Haven't you ever read the comments most people make about the OE Bose systems?

Personally I think the sound quality is "good enough" that I don't feel the need to spend money and upgrade it at this point. However if I had a truck without the Bose already in it, I would in no way, shape, or fashion be looking to upgrade to that overpriced OE Bose setup. Aftermarket is much less expensive and much better quality.

Totally agree!!!! When i upgrade my stock unit will be adding amp and speakers +1 sub to the existing head unit, Done it before in my 07 silvy and the sound is outstanding, with minimal work and $$$

I have the Bose system in my truck, built a custom sub box and added a 10in sub, which helps a lot. But I would never choose a bose system if I was to upgrade my stereo from factory. My brother did his own custom system, and it laughs at mine. Aftermarket is the way to go hands down.

if y'all heard my system, you'd shit yourself. stock speakers are always fine.. its the stock headunit that is underpowered (i would replace that before anything)

subs are extremely loud at low volumes and low at higher volumes. i use the fade R-F and fade it to the front to control sub output because i hooked the add an amp kit up to the rear outputs.

i would be more than happy to help plan a system for you which would be much more cost effective than a BOSE system and easily able to rattle your skull.

Hard to believe because

#1 BOSE is the best in sound IMHO. I have the 321 and it just blows everything else out of the water.

#2 You would think that BOSE would not put their name on anything that is not up to their standards.

I have put an Alpine W203 in my truck and with in 2 weeks it was out of their. The stock radio sounded better in my opinion. I also did not like the fact that the radio stuck out of the dash about 1/2" from the dash. Just did not look right to me. The chimes were a joke on the interface sounded real cheap.

I like the clean look of the stock system and if i could have added BOSE speakers and the subwoofer to make it sound a little louder and more bass i was willing to do that, instead of having a carpeted box and amp under my rear seat.

KROBOCOPI would appreciate any help as long as I can keep my stock head unit or even upgrade to a nav unit.

Like everyone is saying, blose is not good. They are just a big name brand that does alot of advertising. Join a car audio forum, they would probably be able to find you a system that is better than Bose for alot less.

That being said I have the Bose in my truck, only because y

that's what it came with. It's not great, but I couldn't justify the cost to replace the speakers while they are still all working.

You're living in the past and/or are uninformed.... sorry. If you can effectively adjust the settings of an aftermarket setup it will absolutely blow away anything stock you've ever heard.

krobocop, I absolutely agree that the headunit's output is often a weak link -- however I don't think it takes replacing the headunit to make a big improvement. Just hooking the output from the factory H/U into an aftermarket amplifier and DSP cleans up and boosts the sound quality immensely.

I use to think that also because I had 4 - 901's series 2 with the Bose power amp that put out 400 watts per channel and required 1900 watts input at 115volts.

great system. But I moved to a waterfront rental and could not find a good setup because of so many windows. So went looking fo the small sats. But after doing side by side listening, I ended up buying Boston Acoustics, because they sounded far better than the Bose. It depends on the individual models I suppose, and the enclosures.

Umm...........maybe.

I have heard that with our trucks, swapping in a lux-amp...while changing nothing else (ie: keeping stock 'Bose' speakers) gives you a totally different system that is actually worthy of the Bose name.

Hopefully Sunday I will have a definiative answer for you as I am swapping my amp that day.
