Upgrades?

If you were buying a stock '09 Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab 4x4, what, if any upgrades would you get?

My "add it soon" list is fairly short...nerf bars and a rhino liner.

I might get HID headlights, perhaps lift it a few inches, a camper top somewhere down the road and if I really feel like spending some money I might throw an ARB front bumper and a winch on it.

Are there any glaring issues on this truck that will need upgrading? I should get the truck in the next 10 days...just trying to kill some time while I wait.

The black bear tune is somewhere down the road...I don't want to void the warranty so I think it'll be a while before I pull the trigger on that.

i dont know if my stuff counts as an "upgrade", but i put the aftermarket roof lights on, i like the look of them on the white truck. personal opinion i guess, but ahh, K&N air intake i also have, and airlift air bags, i personally hate the back end of my truck sagging down

First thing is first. Leveling kit and New tires - comes with street tires, goodyear eagle LS-2 = the suck on 4x4 (thats assuming you get the 20's). This is mine with level and 1.5 BL and cooper Zeon 33's and GoRhino D2 bars.

Exhaust, tune (black bear as you mentioned), improved intake. Keep in mind that with an exhaust and afm it might be a little annoying. Stock Cold air intake is pretty decent, so drop a K&N filter and get rid of the stock airtube. I just put an Airaid on my and I love it. From what I have read here, dumping 300 bones on a volant isnt worth the money, because GM did a great job on the stock deal. Save you some time, on a GMT900 dont even waste a thought on a throttle body spacer. Air is already flowing really well!

TDEAUX - NICE LOOK TRUCK! I've been trying to decide between chrome or black nerf bars...your picks just helped me make that decision.

Did you do the leveling kit yourself or have a shop do it?

I sure wouldn't level it. I fail to understand the idea behind that. Any time there's something in the back or you tow anything, you ride around with your back-end down and the front end pointed skyward....a very dorky look.

I'd rather look dorky 1% of the time while i'm towing something than 99% of the time when i'm not. I put the level on myself with basic tools, a hammer and a pry bar. Took 2 1/2 hrs. and I wasn't trying to win any races. You have to get an alignment after too keep in mind. Rough Country level = $70 and Alignment = $90 bucks. The BL is a whole different story, took about 10 hrs and a lot of busted knuckles :shakehead:

Leveling kit, AT tires, step bars, headlight upgrade, tonneau cover, get some bedliner spray for the wheel wells, bug flector, rain visors, tint front windows, airaid tube, aeroforce/scangauge II.

2 Cheap-*ss mods are the DIC swich panel mod and the cargo bed light switch mod (both are around $25 each for parts).

The Airaid Intake tube is not available for the 2009 trucks. You can get just the airbox, or a complete kit, but not just the tube.

I went with the Volant, but in all honesty, only for looks. I would have preferred a GMPP CAI, but I guess those are not to be found any longer.

They changed something on the 2009, so that the 2007-2008 Intakes will not work. I believe it is the location of the MAF sensor, but not 100% sure.

What exactly are these mods? Any links or images?

Thanks

Get a sticker with those HIDs that say "cops suck d*ck" so you can get even more tickets.

If you people drive around in the city and need HIDs and fog lights on 24/7, you shouldn't be driving as it doesn't matter what you have, you can't see anyways.

For me, my top items would/were

1. Wheels/tires

2. Tonneau cover

3. Performance tune of some kind.

4. Step bars

Pretty much in that order.
