Radio Turns Off When I Turn Off My Truck?

Recommended Posts

I just noticed it yesterday.

The only thing I have done is added the Bluestar 2010 module to it.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I went threw the owners manual but found nothing on the topic.

So your radio is staying on now despite the key being out of the ignition and the door open?

No

Before yesterday, I would turn off my truck and the radio would stay on untill I opened the door.

Now it is turning off when I turn the truck off.

When you hooked up the bluestar module did you possibly unhook the power signal wire to the radio and get it plugged back in to an incorrect source? There are some that have RAP power (stays on til door open) and there are some sources that are switched by the key. Thats all I can come up with???

sounds module-related.. like the bluestar module gets its remote wire (power signal/source) from a different input and transfers that to the radio.

either that or a bad door switch making it think that one is still open.. maybe go around and open/close all the doors on the truck.. i wouldn't think this would be it (it would beep at you i'm sure)

In my truck the radio turns off with the key out and when the driver door is opened, but it does not turn the radio off when the passenger door is opened. Does everyone else have the same experience or do I have an electrical problem also?

Sorry don't mean to high-jack the thread but it is kind of related.

check the RAP (Retained Accessory Power) fuse to see if it has blown...sometimes this is all it may be..if it is still good, unplug and replug the module to see if that fixes the issue.

Mine is doing this as well, and I haven't added anything to the radio. I'll post if I get it sorted out, may just make a trip to the dealer and let them sort it out.

From what I can follow the RAP relay is built into the BCM, and is controlled by the drivers door switch, so the radio staying on when opening the passenger door is probably normal.

The RAP function not working could be caused by a short to ground or high resistance on the accessory voltage circuit, which may or may not be related to adding the Bluestar module. Otherwise maybe a drivers door switch or the BCM.

Nope, yours acts just like mine does Jason.

The owners manual states that the radio will not shut off if the passenger door is open, only the drivers side door, so it is of the norm, if that helps.

That is normal. Mine did that and i had no problem with it.
