Bluetooth, The Final Option

Well after yesterday's $402 ebay auction of a bluetooth VCIM, I'm about to go a different way. Just looking for a last word about a few of the choices. (2008 LTZ truck w/out Nav)

I have no desire to have Onstar operational.

The choices I had been considering were:

1) 20783877 or 25984444 factory VCIM

2) Scosche Bluefusion BGFM

3) Costar Bluestar

I'm leaning toward just buying a Scosche BGFM. I talked to them today and the unit will stream stereo A2DP from a Ipod or my Droid phone and the steering wheel controls work as well as Caller ID. Question for those that have this unit: Do the buttons on the mirror work?

Would there be any advantage in either the Costar or the factory units?

Thanks

Chuck

I'm still in shock over that VCIM auction as well. No way in hell do I think the part is worth THAT much money, but now that the precedent has been set I question if we'll see them selling for much less than that again for a while. Who knows, though... all it takes is a seller that doesn't know what he has for that to change.

I've heard of people having problems with the Scosche units dropping signal (especially when using A2DP), but having not seen or tried one myself I can't say for sure if they're any good or not. I guess if it were me I'd go with the CostarTech unit.

I'm still in shock too :D:D Needless to say, but I don't have one yet.

I heard the Scosche has had some problems as well. -Losing connection, poor call quality ( noise ). I also heard A2DP audio quality is not that great. I have never tried it though.

Great! Scosche problems, GM VCIM lack of availability, and no Costars either. Still FUBAR.

Well, I'm going to buy a suction cup mount for my Droid and another 3mm stereo cable to plug in the front of my radio and the Droid. At least I can use the speakerphone for now and get music from the Droid to the radio with a cable. Since my friend abscounded my ipod for his new Suburban, I have no music and have to figure out how load the Droid up. Oh well, I can get rid of the Garmin GPS off my dash and the Ipod replacing them with the Droid.

I was set to pull the trigger on the CoStar until I stumbled upon the OEM module on eBay. If it were me, I'd do the temporary suction cup setup and continue to scour eBay. They'll show up again...just my .02.

EDIT: Here's another one, he says it's the last one he has.

I think he's been claiming that about every unit he's sold.

Wonder how high this auction will get?

I paid $405 for mine. Hey, if you want factory bluetooth you gotta pay to play. Economics 101; supply and demand my friends. The POS scosche blue fusion which I have was $399 when it first came out, and I paid $320 for it and it sucks balls. So for an extra $80 I have oem bluetooth???

My escalade was $52K with 7K miles on it so $400 for something IT SHOULD HAVE COME WITH is upsetting but not unrealistic.

I've had the bluestar for almost a year. It had echo issues. They sent me a new one. No echos but my phone doesn't pair up every time. I think thats my phones issue not the bluestar. Otherwise, when I do have it paired and working, it works great thru the truck speakers and onstar mike. The downside is it's such a hassle to pair up that I don't bother to use it.
