Console Latch Stuck

I bought an '04 Avalanche today and the lid for the folding center armrest /console won't open. Anyone have a solution to this problem?

My truck was like that when I got it...you have to play around a little with it to get it open, but once its open you have to lubricate it. I used 3-in-1 oil and worked the parts while it was open...never had an issue since.

I got it open! Wiggled the lid from side to side while pushing the release button and it opened. Sprayed some WD 40 in there and it works like new.
