Load Range On Tires

Maybe I am dumber than most but what does the load range on a tire mean? I have Duelers that came on my gmt900 truck p265/65/18's. Load range on them is 2469 lbs. I just curious if they are ok to be using while towing my travel trailer that weighs maybe 6000lbs when fully loaded. I tried searching but did not find what I was looking for so any help would be appreciated.

Is the trailer goose neck? Where on the trailer are the axle(s) located? Im going to go out on a limb not knowing what your trailer is and say yes your fine with those tires, there is maybe 2000 lbs on your back tires without a trailer, and your rated at 5000 lbs. I doubt your trailer has 3000 lbs of tongue weight

You'll be ok with those tires. Whenever you decide to buy new tires, think about buying higher load range tires to give you more margin of safety. Towing at freeway speeds can be pretty unforgiving of a blowout with single rear tires. Remember, the performance rating of tires is based on a new tire, not one that is 3 yrs old and has 30-40,000 miles on it.

Yeah it not a gooseneck. I figured I would be ok and kinda had an idea that it had to do with the tongue weight. I figured I asked and learn it right. I'm looking at some load range D tires for probably next year. I only have 16,000 miles on my truck (2007)and have owned it since new. I appreciate the quick replies
