Chris/KILO-9 mentioned in another thread that you can go thru the BT (VOICE -Pass-thru, in OM) to your I Phone or other phone with voice control to do such things as make a call. My Question is more I-Phone related. Once to your phone how do you call someone, lets say Jim? Do you say call Jim and the phone searches for Jim in address book?

Thanks for a reply...could use this feature but do not want to spring for I-Phone + 30 a month unless I know how this works....store guys not much help...

The iPhone 3Gs (or any voice-controlled phone) has a specific set of commands that work with its Voice Control system. Keep in mind that these commands are for the iPhone and not the Onstar/Bluetooth system. Also, only the 3Gs has voice control, the 3G does not.

To call John Smith, you would say "call John Smith mobile." To call Fargus Masterflex, you would say "call Fargus Masterflex Home," etc. You can also use the word "dial." Unless it's a really unique name, you need to be fairly specific to ensure that the iPhone selects the proper contact from the address book. As you can see from the above examples, you need to use first and last names, and specify which number it is (work, home, mobile, etc.). Hope this helps...let me know if you have any more specific questions...

iPhone Voice Control basics

Try this link for more about the iPhone's Voice Control system. Oh, and if you are on the fence about getting an iPhone..DO IT! I can't remember how I lived without mine. The "awesomeness" of the iPhone goes well beyond the utility of the Voice Control system. :dunno:

Thanks Chris. My phone seems to work fine by itself but just plays dumb when connected to the truck. I can tell it to dial and it just exits the voice app and the truck disconnects from the phone. Any ideas?

After you say, "voice," the Onstar system will say, "ok, accessing <your phones name>." Then, it will get quiet...here's the key to making it work...wait until you hear the iPhone's beep through the truck's speakers before you give it a command. I had the truck hang up on me a few times before I learned to wait for the final beep.

Thanks. I recall you saying that already. It works if you wait.

I have a 2005 silverado that has Onstar, XM, Bose, and 6CD changer. I currently have a PAC-OEM24 adapter connected to it, this provides RCA outputs that I have connected to a MTX amp which feeds a pair of Rockford Fosgate 10" subs.

I recently purchased an iPhone that would like to integrate. I would Like to be able to use all my factory equipment, stereo/steering wheel controls, to control the iPod funtionality, as well as use the voice control capability of the iPhone. I would like all sound to come through the existing speakers, and have the system auto-mute itself if a call comes in regardless of what input is playing; iPod/iPhone/cd changer/XM or AM/FM radio. What product(s) would I need to make this happen?

Thanks in advance,

Randy

If it stops working, restart the iPhone. I had to do that a couple times when it stops responding to the voice command.
