New Tires For My Tahoe

I've got an 08 LS 4x4. It came with the Goodyear HP's, 265-70-17's. I'm happy with the same size. I drive mostly on blacktop, about 80% and the other 20% is dirt road two tracts, boat ramps, and sometimes sand and a little mud.

I'm not too impressed with the GY Wrangler HP's. I'd like something that is relatively quiet, does well in snow, rain, and occational off road.

What do you all suggest?

My dad has a set of the GY Wrangler Silent Armor, so far he really likes them. They ride nice, quiet and are a little bit more aggressive than the stock tire so he has no issues in the mud and snow. From what I've read they're suppose to be a long wearing tire but we'll have to wait and see on that.

check out the Toyo Open Country A/T, Nitto Terra Grapplers, goodyear duratrac's, maybe the Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrain Radial and the Cooper Zeon LTZ's I'm in the market for new tires, and these are all on my list

+1 on the Silent Armors. I've had mine a year and half and absolutely love them.

In a similar situation but do almost nothing off paved surfaces or under 60 mph. The Goodyear AT/S that came on my truck are a great traction tire in snow but absolutely suck as a highway cruiser. A/T's in general are just the wrong product for my application. Seems like almost every new vehicle I've purchased over the past 20 yrs came with GY products, was not impressed with any.

Personal favorite over the years on many light trucks has been Michelin LTX M/S...expensive but worth the extra money. Was the only tire I could keep together on the front end of a fleet of Ford vans.

Had Firestone Destination LE on a Jeep Liberty that I really liked for both smooth/quiet and traction. Unfortunately, that Jeep was a POS so traded it before accumulating a lot of miles on the tires.

Was very satisfied with Uniroyal TigerPaw on a 2 light trucks but think the product was discontinued. Had surprisingly good traction for a highway cruiser.

Personal short-list for my truck: Michelin LTX M/S2 or Latitude Tour, or BFG LongTrail Tour, or Bridgestone Dueller Alenzia, or Firestone Destination LE.
