I have an 02 Sierra w/o factory fog lights, I wanted to get a set including matching valance so they would look like they came with the truck, what I want to know is if I got those items would it work with the truck or would it be a flop and me be getting something that will not work, what all is needed to mount these or do they mount to the truck regardless if there stock or not ? Any and all info you can supply would help greatly before purchasing everything.

Oh yeah, I us to see a kit on eBay a lot. Wiring, switch, lamp assemblies, bulbs...... The whole ball of wax everything you needed to make the swap...... Less the valance. But an exact-o knife will cure that problem. Dunno if there was some GM part # that is the kit. :dunno: There are several GM parts guys on here...... You all CHIME IN on us a part number if there was one or not.

I installed the OEM fogs on my 2000 Silverado but they didn't work at first. The dealer had to program my BCM for the T96 RPO code to work with the OEM switch. Your BCM may or may not already be programmed. I've heard of guys just wiring everything in and they worked immediately but not so in my case. Check the sticker in your glove box to find out. The sticker will have several 3-digit codes listed. If T96 isn't listed, then the BCM will need to be reprogrammed in order to use it with the OEM switch.

I bought my fog lights off eBay but they didn't come with the harnesses. I built my own and wired it into the engine electrical box using the wiring diagrams I got from AllDatadiy. Cost me a total of ~$100 for the parts plus $85 for the reprogramming. That's for: lights, OEM switch, connectors (2), wire, and the relay.

I wanted to go strictly OEM with this install. The GM harness and light kit was too spendy for me because I figured I could purchase all the pieces much cheaper. You can of course hard wire you own setup and bypass the BCM by installing an aftermarket switch.

If you are adding them for looks alone, do it. Otherwise I would highly suggest finding someone with the OEM fog lights in a 99-02 and looking at their performance in person. The OEM lights are highly ineffective.

there exist a kit to retrofit as stated above, rumor states that the kit has been discontinued but you may still find old stock available. Your BCM will require a reflash for the factory switch to work, you will install the switch in the dash to the existing wiring harness and you will have to run the supplied harness from the underhood fuse panel to the lights.
