Dyno/street Tuned The Gto

So yeah...I went down to SNL Performance just outside Dallas for a full-on tune on my GTO. I slapped a smaller pulley on there in the parking lot...Went from a 3.2 to a 3.0 inch front pulley on the TVS, picked up about 26 hp at the wheels without adjusting the canned tune from Magnuson...So I'd been running around with about 450 rwhp since I installed it.

The guys at SNL are top-notch dudes. Worked their asses off all day on my car and my buddy's car (they installed his cam and did his tune as well). I didn't get out of there until like 8 or 9 PM. I've never seen a tuner as dedicated to getting things perfect as this guy (Matt @ SNL). It's always 3-4 pulls and zoom, out the door. Not Matt. It was pull after pull after pull, followed by street driving, etc...So on and so forth. Picking up a bit more here and there each and every time. Plus, they put up with me and my buddy hanging out for 12 freaking hours just BSing and throwing peanuts at them saying "DANCE MONKEY DANCE".

Final numbers: 532 RWHP and 504 RWTQ. Soooo...I picked up like 80 RWHP from a pulley and a tune.

Mah car be a NASTY BITCH now. :happysad:

Sweet Mike. I rode in the Trailblazer SS and was impressed but now that thing would probably scare me! You are right 27mpg is crazy and awesome at the same time.

It's pretty crazy. 65 MPH rolling into third on asphalt...The car slides around and becomes a handful in a hurry. On nice grooved concrete? 65 MPH roll-in takes off like I'm in 1st gear. It just goes "BANGZOOMTOTHEMOON". It's freakin' AWESOME.

So yeah...I'm going to need to do something about traction. Like minitub the car and run on 315 drag radials all the time :happysad:

Wow, that thing is a torque monster. The curve is as flat as a pancake!

Are you running the factory cam and heads?

Yup. Factory cam and heads. There's a guy up in Tulsa with pretty much the same setup as me, but he put a blower cam in and came out at 629 at the wheels. Not sure what I'd do with an extra 100 ponies at the wheels though...I'm WAY past my traction limits as-is. Plus, I don't really want to be at 770 hp (estimation based on 18% power loss) at the flywheel on a stock bottom end.

The LSx engine is amazing.

How do you expect the rear axle to hold up? I hear that is the weakest link in the drivetrain.

They're not bad...but not up for the kind of power I'm making if I want to go to the track. I'd need to upgrade the studs and the axle shafts, plus the drive shaft and a few other bits.

But I'm not a big track monkey so I can do that stuff over time.

SWEET! Really impressive numbers! Am I missing something? This kind of power from: intake, exhaust, TVS 1900, and a tune?????

Talk about ROI!

Impressive!
