How hard is it to do a body lift?

I've just purchased an 88 Jimmy S15 and am about to fix it up all nice.  Part of my plans is to lift it a little and put some bigger tires on it.

My question is how much $$ will it cost me to do a simple body lift (2-3") and how hard is it to perform?

A friend of mine was saying how he used hockey pucks and got away with it cheap.... Is he bull####ting me?

I am not going offroad with it.. It's a slow crappy engine (2.8v6) and 2wd, I just want it for the looks.

Let me know any details

I've seen guys use hockey pucks for lifts, but I don't recommend it. Almost all of the homemade body lift and suspension lifts/drops that I've run across have serious safety flaws.

Companies that manufacture this type of equipment have done tests and have to have liability responsibility to the consumer. Joe Blow down the street that "did one just like this for my cousin" will likely miss something important.

I'm not sure how hard it would be on your vehicle, but one my truck, it wasn't too hard.  More time consuming more than anything else.

I wouldn't use the hockey pucks, or any other "homemade" type of lift.  Like Friz mentioned, it wouldn't be the safest method.   Off Road Warehouse sells a 3" kit for your S-15 for $82.99   Front and rear bumber brackets are not included.  Other places may have it for a similar price, maybe even cheaper.  I would think the 2" kits would be a little cheaper as well.

Here's a link to some pics of what was involved in installing my kit.

I've got a whole slew of bodylift install pics of when I put the bodylift on my truck w/ the aid of a few of my friends.  It took us two days to do it all.  It was a lot of work, but the results are great.  I think the only problem you might encounter on your truck would be rust, but other than that it just takes a lot of time.  The install is very easy, just rather time consuming.

looks way too complicated for a newbie like myself  ???

how much would it cost for a shop to put that $80 3" lift kit in?

Hey Jon or Tom do you by chance still have your BL instructions?  I emailed PA for a copy of them and they said they were gonna mail them but i have not gotten them and probably wont ever.  Is it long?  If not could you scan it and email?

i can find the second set, I send them to you in them to you by regular mail.  If not, I can scan them for you.
