Grounding Audio Equipment

I have a 2007 Silverado NBS with the 5.3L (Z71) that I already installed a new receiver and back-up camera. I am going to be installing an amp and speakers next. My question is regarding the grounding of the equipment. I noticed the ground wire off the battery is attached to the engine block. What is the best place to ground my new amp? I can run the ground to the frame, negative battery post or the engine block. What have you guys been doing? Thanks for the advice in advance. I know there is a clear answer, I just can't figure out what it is. I have read a lot of different opinions and seen different set-ups, but none of them seem to follow a certain rule.

On all my after market amp installs, I always grounded the amp to the closest spot were I can run the ground wire hidden underneath carpet to the car body/frame. Usually the carpet is already cut or slotted were the seat rails are at and someplace around there is were I ground mine amps at. On my civic I have my amp grounded one of the bolts on the passenger seat rail... I just got a large enough round lead and put it between the barefloorboard and the seat rail and just ran the bolt through the sail rail and through the amp lead...

Yeah I generally also try to find the closest spot that is hidden somewhere as well. If it is a painted part be sure to rough it up down to bare metal, doesn't have to be pretty just so theres good contact with bare metal. It kind of has to be somewhere close since a good ground shouldn't be more than 3 ft. away at the max. The shorter the better
