Mineral Spirits

Well I decided to remove my dealers badge today, came off simple and I used some mineral spirits to remove the sticky adhesive. I have done this in the past with no problems, but it has definitely left marks on the paint! I washed the area with soap and water after, seemed to reduce it a little but damn! Truck is two days old

 

Any suggestions?

Mineral spirits.... also known as paint thinner!

 

 

 

Goo gone works much better for removing any sticky mess left from the adhesive... I would use goo gone to make sure its all gone, and then wax the surface and see if that helps the mark... You might have removed the clear coat.

Don't use rubbing compound. I found out the hard way.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow, but the black paint just looks dull!

Hopefully some wax can bring it out. I have done this on two other black vehicles with no probs

Time to get a GM-trucks.com sticker to put over the area

Well I waxed the area and buffed away, seemed to remove the dullness that was there, just some light scratches on the black paint probably from the cloth!
