Neutral Not Showing Up On Dash....

Hey everyone. I Need some help with my 2000 1500 Z71. My neutral is not showing up on my dash. P, R, D, 3, 2, 1 are fine. I Had the dealership check everything and they are shaking their heads. I figured I could live with it but without it I can not shift into 4L.

 

They recently changed the rear main seal from an oil leak I had. When I picked the truck up, only P,R,N where working so they kept it and changed out the PNP switch and the two connectors going into it. Now only N does not show up and it is annoying. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Take is back and ask them to fix it properly.

Yeah, I have it there now and I am getting the same story.

The N on the IP? chances are the little stupid bulbs are going out. you might need to get them replaced.

 

Try Charlie @ Florida Speedometer. Send him an email to see what he would charge if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself. He can supply the parts if you wanna do it yourself.

The funny thing is that neutral was working until they changed out the pnp switch and plug. I wonder if they wired it up wrong on the new plug because I know one of them is a 5V line. Worse case, I will try him and replace them just to see if any change. I am trying to find the wiring diagram now. The one I have in my Haynes is wired differently than the diagram the dealership has. Thanks again and thank you to everyone that is replying. I do appreciate it.

Nope, probably did not disconnect the battery............... Short (spark) killed the electronics in the IP... Or bulbs, LED, what ever they used....... It is time for a rebuild on the cluster.....

Bottom line is that it worked BEFORE they touched it. They need to make it right.

Thanks everyone. I found the issue. I subscribed to alldatadiy.com to get the wiring diagram of the connectors on the pnp switch that controls the PRND and found a bulletin in there explaining that the sealant they used could heat up and get inside the connector and possibly in the pins and cause an open. When the dealership could not find the issue the first time, I had tried to find the issue myself. When I disconnected the connectors I noticed one of them seemed to have some sort of glue or something on the inside of the connector. When I took it back for the second time and asked them, they said it was fine. So today after I saw this bulletin, I went outside and cleaned the connector off and when I plugged it back in it worked. Have a good one and thanks again.
