Ok Another Question....

I'm sure you guys are all gonna be sick of my questions pretty soon! But here goes anyway lol. So i'm sure everyone knows by now that I'm looking for another truck since we are having a baby in November and the wife will get to drive the 08. So anything I've gone to look at so far I've not been satisfied with (just so you know cuz I've asked questions about a few trucks, a burb, a yuk, etc lol). So I found a super low mile 99 Silvy Ext. Cab Z71 stepside. Owned by an older gentleman that basically drove it only to work and home then church and home! It looks like a really nice truck but unfortunately is about a 5 hr drive from my location. The only thing I'm worried about is the stepside bed size. I really like stepsides and think they look awesome but am not sure it's for me. I use the bed of my truck nearly everyday. Most of the time it's not big stuff just dogs, random home improvement items, but I'm most worried about my atv and the bigger stuff like that. So can anyone shed light on this for me?

The stepside that I had on my 2001 Sierra was the same length as the crewcab one that you have now, by the bed is only as wide as the wheel wells. So it would be as long as what you have now, but it would be considerably narrower.

I never really had a problem with mine, but I didn't use mine nearly as much as you say you use yours.

I hope that this helps.

PS If you ATV isn't wider than your current wheel wells you should be fine, but I would definitely measure it.

I had one and my two buddies have them also. As for quads both have yfz450r and still fit inside. I wanna say they are right at 4 feet wide. The only thing I will say is mine was a RCSB and that thing was crazy in the winter. The bed is just so light but, I thought it was a lot of fun.

Oh and as for home improvement supplies in the bed the bed sides are the only fiberglass pieces. The bed itself on the inside is still the typical sheet metal.

I do agree that these things are terrible in the winter. There is just nothing to the back end, it is all fiberglass. It is sad but I knew what intersections around town were going to spin the truck when it was icy so I tried my best to just avoid them because once that truck let loose it was facing the wrong way.
