Oil Pan Gasket Leak.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I checked the Torque Specifications sticky and couldn't find the torque for the oil pan bolts. I've had a leak since I've had the truck and it is getting worse. I've traced it down to the oil pan gasket and wanted to check the torque on the bolts before I send it in for warranty work.

I really don't like anybody working on my truck besides me. Does anybody have the torque specs? Thanks!

I DID search and its NOT my rear main. My rear main is dry and clean as can be. I went ahead and tightened the oil pan bolts and so far no more leak.

I would still like the torque specs if anybody can find them.

Thanks

My oil pan gasket leaked from the factory. It was very slight at first, but noticed it more after ~2 yrs. I just watched it, and finally took it to the dealer for repair (it never dripped to the floor, just wet down the block). The tech said that the gasket probably had a nick from the factory. No issues since, and they also replaced the oil blank off cover seal above the oil filter and the drain plug (although I don't think either were leaking). Perfect since...

Exactly. I've had mine for two years and it's gotten somewhat worse. It wasn't enough to drip onto the ground but now it is dripping onto the sway bar and spreading across it.

I ordered a block off plate gasket but didn't replace it because I found oil on both sides of the block seeping out of the oil pan gasket. It's obviousley coming from the oil pan gasket. I cleaned it up and tightened the bolts and so far it hasn't leaked. I'm not sure how long it takes for the oil to show up but I'm going to keep an eye on it.

I've pulled the inspection cover and inspected the rear main seal and there is no oil anywhere near the rear main.
