I've Had It With The Complaining!

We mainly use my truck for the family trip vehicle since my wife drives a little Alero and it's not as comfortable as the truck. My wife is always complaining about how 'loud' the truck is so I'm thinking of going back to stock exhaust. Here is the problem. When I had my Flowmaster installed, I also had them use 3" pipe from the cat back.

If I wanted to go back to stock, would I be able to without going back to OEM pipes? I'm trying to limit the cost. I appreciate your help...

And NO, I'm not getting rid of my wife, and I'm not riding in her crappy car.

If you had corsa, you wouldn't of had that problem. :banghead:

Good luck with the swap. I'm sure if you reduce the pipe for the muffler, it would work.

Rip the flowmaster out and go with one of the big body magnaflow mufflers. There 50% quieter then a flowmaster and flow better. That should tame the natives.

Get a resonator put in....... Some luxury cars have them from the factory quietens down the exhaust..... I know my town car has them..... With out them they are quite a bit louder.... The ones that are on the TC look like glass packs..... But they are not.

I had a Flowmaster kit on my 1999 GMC Sierra 5.3l it had a resonator under the cab to keep things quite under the cab. Right at the axle is where the noise started.... Right about half way the muffler..... Anything before that point was quite...... You barely could hear the exhaust at once you got in third.. However since flowmaster does not make a stainless steel system for my truck I was forced to look else where.... I put a borla system on..... MAN it sounds GOOOOOOOOOOOOD. I find myself turning the radio down and listen to the mellow sounds...

Edgewise see the attached pictures one is the Lincoln system I spoke of... The other one is the flowmaster system I had.. My money would be on adding a resonator.....

 Had the same problem with my Flowmaster and full 3inch pipe, way too much drone and drove my wife crazy on long trips/highway driving. Swapped it out for a Magnaflow (for about $120, labor included) and am now drone free and no more complaining from the wifey.

I just put on a flowmaster force II with new magnaflow cats and edelbrock shorties. Pretty quiet with the 70 series muffler. Mine is 3" in 2x2.5" out but i am sure flowmaster 70 comes in a 3 in and out. From loudest to quietest 40 series then 50 then 70. But what do i know this is my first post!

I have a complete 2009 stock exhaust from the inlet of the muffler back... has 8,000 miles on it.

You can get or have a custom reducer made so that you can retain the 3" pipe after your stock muffler is back in.

dude, that is a bummer.

I have the Flowmaster Super 40 (which is louder, I believe) and my wife loves how the truck sounds!

I have the Flowmaster 40 as well and my girlfriend (common-law) loves it too! But then if she didn't it's my truck and to bad.
