Anyone know the torque spec for the rear axle U-bolts, '01 2500LD?

I can wait until tomorrow and check Shop Key at work, but I'd like to torque them this evening.

Thanks !

I

Pirate 4x4 says 89 ftlbs for the 16mm versions you should have

I think they're 14mm. Lemme go check.

Thanks!

Yeah, I've run plenty of them down with the impact wrench. I guess I'm getting picky in my old age.

These are 13mm.

Maybe they're 12. 13mm is pretty uncommon. Reckon they're 10.9? 80lb. ought to be close.

Not sure about the 2500 but it's only 18lb ft for the 1500.

18lb ft for axle u-bolts?

I torqued them to 80. Felt about right .

Thank you all..

Yep, that's what the service manual says LOL....

Lets just say Tight...

A 12mm bolt is about 7/16"...which is generally torqued to between 65 and 75 ft-lbs.

I just changed my u-joints a few weeks ago and that's the method I took.....hand tight.....but the service manual says 18ft lbs for a 1500.

U-bolts and U-joint bolts are two totally different things.

U bolts hold the springs on the axle.
