Vets Dont Receive What's Advertised

Negotiated a deal with a dealer in Lockport NY. Actually, they did all the numbers voluntarilly. I agreed to their offer but then told them I was a retired VET and also was entitled to the Military Discount GM has advertised. I signed up for the program earlier and got a verification number.

The dealer refused to honor the discount. I called GM and they said they could not direct independent dealers. So I guess I'm out. Anyone else have this happen or know any recourse? Thanks in advance

yeah man...its BS really...its totally dealer dependent up this way....

My local dealership gives 500 bucks off for being in or retired...really 500 bucks....stick it in your A**...500 bucks off a 50K vehicle...thats more of an insult than a discount.

The one out on the east coast base takes one of the taxes off....thats actually a lot of money off....but there are two families out there that own all the dealerships from all the manufacturers...and the two families have recently married into each other...so, they're not loosing anything.

Sounds like you tried to sneak it in after the deal is done. Next time, man up & let them know you will use that program upfront.

It's not a scam! He is a veteran and based on that he is entitled to certain benefits.

does'nt matter when you ask for it. deals not done until you sign the paper

Unbeliveably disrespectfull tell a vet to "man up"; especially today; you ought to be ashamed

Agreed...if he had told them up front he was using that program, he would have ended up with a price oddly familiar to the one he had without the discount. The retired vet must be the scammer...not the slimy car salesman.:lol::lol:

+1 Same thing goes for supplier discount. Always tell them last.

I would say find another dealer. I am currently in the sandbox and my wife went to our local Chevy dealership and they squared her away. She was able to get the Military pricing deal and USAA $750 rebate, and we also had a $500 off loyalty thing in the mail, and they could not take it but they then gave her another $500 toward the value of the trade in. They treated her right and hopefully in 2 years I will be looking at a new Z28(when they come out!). And she traded in the Mini-van for a Traverse.

You're supposed to make the best deal, then get the discount. By knowing up front a person is entitled to a discount, the numbers will be washed so that person actually gets zipp.

I put in over 26 years supporting the country and the constitution so a person like this can freely abuse the right of freedom of speach. Statements like His/Hers makes Me wonder if it was worth it.

Terzmo-Thanks for the dedication to our country!

A dealer/saleman like that is not even worth your time! I have never had a problem with the GM Mil discount at either dealer I bought my Colorado and Sierra from. Each time the deal was struck then the discounts were applied. That is why GM gives us the rebate code numbers. You get Military perfered pricing (most times just over dealer cost price) and the discounts to boot. If this is not how they do the deal thern walk away and find someone that will honor you, your service to the country, and the deal he made.

Good luck in your hunt for the deal you deserve.

First off thank you very much for your service, I am truly grateful for men and women like you who serve your country! Wondering if it was worth it or not so that people like Negative Nancy (Won_Hunglo) can make statements like that is exactly what makes it worthy. Even though people like him are disrespectful ingrates they are being represented and served by men and women with far more moral character than they ever could have and need your protection and wisdom of the greater good.

Yea thats just not right. I would def. find another dealer. I can't believe they would disrespect you like that. People arent raised with any manners anymore all they are worried about it making a buck!

The real scam in all this is that like you guys said...they would wash the numbers to make it look like you are getting a huge discount. I am pretty sure that the Mil pricing is direct from GM...so the dealership gets it back when it is applied to the price...ie they give you 1000 buck discount for Mil than they get reimbursed that 1000 bucks, from GM. I know thats how a lot of company sponsored discounts work.

So I bet if you would have told them up front the salesman would have pulled out another discount that you were given to input that 1000 bucks, you would have bought the truck for XX dollars thinking its a good deal and you got all the discounts...and the dealership received the 1000 bucks from GM and sold the truck at an extra 1000 bucks profit due to that.

And thats pretty F***ING low in my books.

Never say never. Sometimes he has valid points and says what is true, he just doesn't have the proper skills to say it with much class.
