Components In 2010 Sierra

I'd like to keep the stock, non-Bose HU and install an amp to power components up front and new 6.5" speakers in back. I assume a 4-ch amp could be used to do all this. Is that true? Couldn't the woofers be installed in the doors with replaced tweeters in the pillar? Has anyone done this, or would I be better off with regular speakers in the doors and leaving the stock tweeters alone?

Also, do the stock non-Bose HUs have preamp outputs or just speaker level? Do I need any converter to send signal to the amp? I see lots of talk about the PAC and other modules -- would they apply to what I am talking about doing? Thanks alot.

I was wondering the same thing on the pre-amp outputs on the stock h/u. There are posts from people with w/t that came with no cd player finding that if they tried to just install the stock cd player from the same year (2010 in this case) the volume was too low, leading most to believe there was an amp installed. That would lead me to think that the outputs are a pre-amp output. It may be a "loud" pre-amp output (do not know the technical words for that) though since you can hear the sound from the speaker, just not loud enough. Personally I like the sound and features from the stock setup, and would happily just put a 4 channel amp plus a single channel for the sub and upgrade the speakers.

My local shop showed me a device that will take the stock output from the radio and convert that into pre-amp outs, it runs about $100 in Canada.

I just installed a factory CD player in my 2010 W/T and It sounds better then the Radio that was in it. The thing I noticed is that my chimes seem to be louder but maybe its just me. Also these guys that say the volume is lower must not realize there are three seperate controls for: Treble, Bass & Mid. Also there are 5 EQ settings you can play around with and one of these are flat which could be where theirs are set at. You can add a LOC (Line Output Converter) which ties into you speaker wires and turns them into rca outputs. I Like the RE-Q that you can find on ebay or you can spend alot of money and buy a JL Audio Clean Sweep.
