My heater/ac unit works on all numbers but 5. This is on all settings, heat, vent or a/c with or without recirculation. 06, manual dual climate set up.

Do i just need a new control cluster or what?

This is a common issue Justin,I bet you need the blower motor resistor and connector.

should be a warranty item aint it rich? still got a few thousand miles left of it.

As long as its covered under the "buy-back" warranty you got, then yeah, should be covered

My a/c just started acting up and does not blow on the #3 setting, so your saying the problem is most likely the resistor and or connector?

Per MS3DALE's post, check your resistor (did you notice any funky burning smells when blower stopped functioning?). when you replace, DO examine your harness. Look for any signs of overheating (melted contacts, carbon, etc.).

(If you find connector needs replacement, post back, as I found an excellent 3rd party replacement.)

My 00 did this a lot, but would come and go, I traced a small wire bundle under the blower motor to the connector, tap on it and it comes back for a few months. I did this when the defrost went out with ice on the windshield. Not a good fix, or even a fix, but maybe it will get you buy till you've got the cash and time

I did smell an electrical burning smell when it started acting up. I just removed the resistor to take a look and see if anything was noticeably wrong, and this is what I saw...

the resistor at the bottom is soldered to a piece of metal that is completely rusted in two. What could have caused this rust? And, the wiring harness appears to be fine, but i'll most likely replace that as well.

Same thing happened to my '06... I just needed the resistor. My wiring harness was ok.

If I remember correctly, the little wiring harness was more than the resistor. (over $100)

Dead giveaway...

In wet weather moisture is being sucked in via blower.

Re: harness. Found an aftermarket one here $33 (it's wires are even color coded): http://www.buywiring.com/search.asp?keywor...4&search=GO

PS: If you do splice in retro kit, caution in that red wire is hot even if ignition is off.
