Side Body Molding

ok so i have the 2009 sierra SLE with the side body molding but i was thinking about taking these off because i do not like all the chrome....

 

does anyone know if the chrome is its own pc just stuck on top of the colored molding ?

 

would love to just be able to take the chrome strip part of it off or if its some how molded togther then the whole thing...

 

anyone ever take just the chrome off ? or completely off can you tell me if its 2 pcs or one?
