Going To Chevy Tonight...

Was browsing around on the net a few nights ago, and ran across something that boggled my eyes out of my sockets

2010 NEW Silverado, LS, Ext Cab, 4.8, 3.23, Heavy Duty Towing, 2wd

MSRP $33,100

Dealer's website $23,000

Wow...that's a heavy discount!!

I work at a GMC store, and the BEST pricing I could even get, on a similar truck with 4x4, is to TACK ON ANOTHER $6000. Yes, we have 4x4 ext cabs, but at $29,000, even with GM employee discount and rebates.

Sorry, but these days, 4x4 isn't worth another $6000, especially when I only used it once per year

Will keep you guys updated...

Cool! Not a great deal, but fair. If you can buy a previous model year like a 2010 in september, I'll be you can get it for 4k less.

It's probably been on the lot for a while. I bought my '03 in May of 2003 and it had been on the lot since August of 2002. It stickered for like $30,000 but they brought it down to $23,000 before taxes. I ended up financing about $25,000. There were only 12 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. BTW, it's an ECSB 4.8L with 3.73gears.

Back in the summer of 08 I got my 08 silverado ext cab LT 5.3 4x4 for 23k. (24 and some change after taxes and what not)

Made out like a bandit on that

I did that on my Avalanche - It set on the lot since October of the prior year and I went into the dealership in August and offered them 28 on a truck that stickered for 46. They laughed then a couple nights later they called and I ended up with it for 31 out the door. They are right about late August or September they will try and give them away to keep from having the rebated trucks compete with their new stock.

And the reason no one wants that truck = 4.8 & a 4 speed. Some sucker will buy it & get screwed.

I suspect that you are totally RIGHT. It would be impossible to sell trucks with the 4-speed tranny once the news and reality of what the 6-speed will do became known to the driving public.

I sold my 2006 Duramax, which was really way more truck than I needed, and ended up just decorating the driveway. Ao, I went looking for a half-ton Chevy that I'd actually drive. Frankly, the new 2010 Chevy is waaaaay more than I expected and I grow more impressed every single day.

The replacement, one I'm totally in love with, is the 5.3 liter/3.42/6-speed. The six-speed transmission makes all the difference.

No way would I have believed the difference between the 4-speed 3.73 (in my old 2003 Z-71) and the new 6-speed linked to the 3.42 rear end. It makes the tried and true 5.3 liter come alive.

GM has a true and absolute WINNER with the 5.3 and/or the 6.2 liter linked with the 6-speed transmission.

small V-8, 2wd, 4 speed and ls package, It will be a hard sell down the road, But if you like it and plan to keep for awhile its good then. You need to make sure you qualify for all the discounts. My dad gave 22k for his 09 with a 5.3, 2wd sle, 20 in wheels.

The 4 speed ain't that bad, it is better after a couple of mods. Driven the 6 speed, it shifts a lot but I could get used to it.

Whys that? I happen to like the 4spd better. Now the 4.8 wouldn't be enough power for me, but thats another story.
