Trouble Steering My Truck After Going Into Mud

My truck recently got stuck on the side of a road in some very thick red clay, we had to get a tractor to pull us out. We took both of the front wheels off and sprayed down that whole area, but the truck is still having a hard time steering in any directions. Any thoughts as to what could be wrong? Thanks for the help.

 

EDIT: It can't steer worth a shit now, I think it's something to do with power steering, I checked the fluid and it is filled, is there anything else I should be looking for?

With the front end off the ground and the steering wheel not locked, can you turn the wheel back/forth easily? If so... sounds like your pump is bad.Might have burned it out trying to force the wheels to turn when they were stuck.

mechanic just called and said it was the pump, what is rough guestimate of the cost of the repair?
