New Denali -

Hi guys - I just picked up a new XL Denali - factory rims are something my dad might like, if he was alive - and I'm 45. It's black. Outside of fitting it out for the pooch and my son inside, what gear would you change out? Rims, or not, phone stuff, stereo stuff? I am just exiting a 760LI, which had all kinds of things I never used - vibrating a$$-seat - refrigerator that just grew mold, etc.

Any help appreciated, gotta love the room, and the 3rd row is coming out unless the big weathertech mats can stay in with one 3rd row seat. Thanks!

Welcome aboard Skip!

Most of us guys do some kind of exhaust mod. (CORSA,Magnaflow,Borla, etc.) and also get a custom tune for the ECM/TCM.

760LI...wow, coming from that, its going to get some getting used to.

How do you like it so far?

Its all about your taste...

I like it so far, I don't need to see 130+mph anymore, can't wait to get the 3rd row out to see how my bullmastiff likes it! My 11 year old will love it, (I just picked it up today at lunch). Life is calmer in it, the buetooth provides close to the same creature comforts, XM vs Sirius, shouldn't be too bad, AC is taking a while in South Florida to cool it down however, its working so hard haven't really had a chance to enjoy the cabin. I need to run it longer than 10 min at a clip. One road trip and I bet I'm hooked, with the pooch and the family and 3rd row removed.

Which wheels are on it? I REALLY like one of the designs they use on the Denalis, but some of them are all out barf-o-ramas.

Welcome

-Blackbear tune is a must

-CAI

-Exhaust (not flowmaster). On a truck like that spend the money and go with borla

-Debadge

-HID's for headlights and fogs (if it doesn't already have them)

-Rims are personal preference. I bought some OEM silverado SS's and love them, not sure if the wheel spacing is the same. I tend to like sticking with something OEM....you can find clean looking aftermarket wheels for a luxury truck, but most of them look too busy IMO

Welcome Skip. Sweet Denali you got there. Exhaust and tune should be on your mod list. I like those wheels.

All of this after 1000 to 1,500 miles

Corsa (you might want to wait till 2,000 plus to let the moter break in better and right)

I did a MIT Tube and a Amsoil airfilter (I would do this after a 1,000 miles) this is cheaper the the Cold Air Intake from K&N and all...they are all about the same...for the savings of around $150 I didn't think it was worth getting the K&N.

Amsoil Oil - 1,500 to clean out the engine (you will be able to see how it was broken in) and get good fresh oil in right after the break in period.

Amsoil Trans. and Transfer Case (if you got the AWD), and the Rear - 30,000 miles

Tune at 3,000

after that...its really up to you...the rims are great. Congrats! Nice Truck!

I would also up grade your trans cooler to a 12x12 state plate cooler (about $120) for that hot FL Heat down there. By you upgrading to Amsoil that will give you the protection from the heat down there. You can do this when you change your Trans fluid.

Thanks guys! I like less shiny GM wheels personally, and the black vs chrome handles. I will follow trhough on all advice after I break it in. It is the AWD btw. Thanks again all!

Just out of curiosity.. How many miles were on the 760? Any problems?

43.5k on a 2006 - Just about to come out of extended warranty, getting that South Florida it's been in the sun smell. No makor issues, control arm bushings all around needed to be replaced was the only weird thing. I blew the radiator hose at 14k miles. It was about to get expensive.
