You can use your steering wheel controls to control your ipod using the USB. You cannot do this using the aux jack on the dash

Can I plug in a memory stick here as well with MP3's?

yes. if you plug in memory stick or ipod you can read titles on radio also

Sweet - it works better than I hoped! Next time I'll read the manual, but this would have been a defninte sales/gadget feature for me if they had let me know. I leave the iPhone/iPods to the wife and son, memory stick is just my speed! 11 years of mp3's just showed up in my car without it having to be multiple cd's of mp3's. Nice!

Only problem is it will not turn off your ipod and the battery will run down when the truck is not on. My only complaint with it.

Sorry about that! I'm using a memory stick, no ipod, in the USB, so there's no power to drain - 4gb drive was $20, took 30 min to load most of the music over, done ipod not necessary. Keep the blackberry separate

My Ipod (nano) is left plugged in 90% of the time, and I have not had a problem with the Ipod dying. Unless you mean the truck battery dying? In that case I was out of town for 14 days with it plugged in, and upon return both where fully charged (truck and Ipod)

No I mean the Ipod dying.

For example I will listen to it at work and have 30% battery, drive home leave it plugged in and forget about it for a few hrs come out and it will not work for a short period of time then it gets enough juice and will run.

Talk about stepping in IT and coming out smelling like a rose.

I'm an old duffer and don't know ipod from USB.

Anyway, a little over a month ago, we bought our wonderful new truck. I was a bit pizzed that the only truck in the area that fit our requirements only came with a CD player that took one (not 6) CDs. Our saleslady told me not to worry ... our new truck came with the USB and we'd prolly never use the CDs, anyway.

She said that she'd transfer any CDs we wanted over to UBS.

Heck, I had no idea what she was talking about, but she seemed to know what she was doing.

Anyway, she had me go to Costco and buy two 4 Gig USBs. She also had me drop off a bag full of CDs we commonly listen to.

On the day we picked up our truck, she transferred the CDs over to ONE of the USB memory sticks.

Frankly, we have not listened to a single CD since. All of our tunes are on USB memory sticks and it is way more convenient to use the USB than the CDs.

Literally all of my CDs are on the ONE USB and there's loads of room left over.

Ain't this amazing technology???? I'm a believer!!!

I'm with you Steve, it's fantastic! And I never understood the ipod, nor wanted headphones.... you and I also never had those Sony Walkmans in the early 80's either I'm sure :jester: - That being said, I'm only in my 40's :troll: Satellite radio was my great technology, but it's been supplanted by that USB... And I thought I was coming up short with no 6 CD player like my last car had.

Out of curiosity, since I've not been following threads like this.

What trucks did this come on? I mean...Is this only on certain models or years?

I've got a 16gb thumb drive in my current truck (aftermarket radio), but it's gonna be sweet if I don't have to do anything with it other than plug it in when I get a new truck (probably within the next 5-6 months or so).

2010's are the only ones with it and it requires a certain radio option (std). Pretty much stock on the LT trucks. WT models I dont think get it.
