how much lift is too much to safely run the stock chevy press in studs

the motor im building for my blazer is gonna have .490something lift on the exaust side and i was wondering if i could keep the press ins or do i have to bite the bullet and convert to the screw in studs?????

Scott, it's not a bad idea to do the conversion, but at the level your 400 will be running (RPM, lift, and spring pressures), I doubt you'd have a problem.

If you're on a budget, skip it. If there's room $$$ wise, doing the conversion certainly will not hurt anything!!
