6.0 P0101

Bought a 6.0 1500hd. It has been tuned with a hypertech programmer. I drove it and runs great. I reset it to factory this morning. The guy I bought it from said it threw the maf sensor code when he drove it. After I restored it I noticed it idled at a lower rpm than before. Also sometimes it will lope a little bit at idle. Should I try to clean the maf? Is that what would be causing this?

If the code you pulled is P0101. Does it have a K&N filter? This code is a dirty or faulty maf. Does the maf still have a screen in it? Clean the three wires and resistors inside of it good with alcohol and a q-tip. If that doesn't fix it buy a reman. or new one.

haven't looked at it yet. I've had the maf cde thrown on other vehicles bit never caused the low Idle or "lope". It does have a k&n. Should I clean the maf and replace the air filter with a stock filter?

A maf on these pickups WILL cause a low idle which may sound lopey. They will also cause it to shut off in some situations. When the maf is doing this you may experience poor performance. I would do as you said and clean it then put stock filter back in place and be done with it.

Sometimes the cel will go off and the problem goes away. Also it only has the low idle and lope right after start up. It smoothes out after you drive it a little bit

I agree, I would put the computer back to stock. Then clean the MAF sensor. You can buy a can of cleaner at your local auto parts store. I had the Hypertec programmer in my truck, and I had multiple electrical issues. The best computer upgrade you can do is from a company call Black Bear Performance. Lots of guys on here have there products in there trucks. Also if your truck is still idling rough try cleaning your air intake. Just do a search on that. Good Luck !

Update....... Replaced maf an air filter today. K&n was FILTHY!!!!!! Very oily too. After everything was replaced, fired it up. No more light, no more lopey idle. Not bad for $80

I would suggest to others reading this forum - do NOT use a qtip to cleam your MAF sensor - that's a great way to permanently damage it and have to buy a new one. Go get a can of MAF cleaner for $3.50 and just use that - works fine for any vehicle I have had a code thrown on.
