Flowmaster 70 Series

First I have to thank Grumpy Aero Guy, and Cerbomark for thier input.

 

After alot of searching and researching around, i had my flowmaster 70 ordered, but just needed that extra push to have it welded on at a shop.

 

I didn't want an obnoxious sounding race car exhaust....i'm 33 and past all that. I just wanted a nice sounding exhaust that made the small block gm v8 sound like...well...a small block v8!

 

So after a couple PM's to grumpy and cerbo, they had me convinced as they had pretty much the same setup i wanted...just a simple cut out stock muffler, weld in aftermarket.

 

This is what i did and could not be happier.

Sounds excellent with very minimal drone. Sounds great at startup, nice low rumble. Had a nice deep and mellow tone when accelerating normally, and when you get aggressive, the exhaust responds in harmony with aggression, but not a "HEY LOOK AT ME" aggression....just sounds like a well tuned gm small block!.....love it.

 

If your looking for a more aggressive tone, but not shake your ear drums LOUD....this is one you may want to take a look at. I wasn't doing this for performance, just strictly sound. I've always been this way, i LOVE the sound of a sweet mellow powerful sounding exhaust note. Its just in my blood.

 

The ultimate test was my wife. She drove in it friday with the stock exhaust, saturday i had it installed, and she drove to the store with me later that afternoon. Totally oblivious. I havent said a word yet...we'll be going camping in a few days, we'll see if she notices when i'm towing the popup camper, usually towing a camper or trailer increases droning a little bit. We'll see, but like i said before, there is just a hint of drone with the 70 series in this configuration....to me, thats just part of having an aftermarket exhaust, its VERY minimal though, barely noticable, and believe me, if it would have bothered my wife, she would have said something. AFM has kicked it as well, and i had to really strain to listen for a difference...there really isn't any...but a passenger that doesn't know your engine is even slipping in and out from 4 to 8 and back again, they would never know. As truck owners, we know so your listening for any subtle changes.

 

Bottom line, i'm very happy with the end result, just enough increase in sound, deeper tone, rumble.
