Seat Sliding Forward

Recommended Posts

When I come to a complete stop my drivers seat will slide forward maybe 1/4-3/8 of an inch. It's very annoying and I'm wondering if anyone knows what might be the problem?

Thank you for your help!

my old 99 would do that if i didn't have the seat all the way back. all the way back and it was fine. I assume that the escalade has power seats. I'd bet it's some slop in the worm gear or motor to track interface.

I think your probably right- I just started driving with the seat not all the way back. What can I do about it?

There used to be a TSB about this problem and the dealer had a kit that you could order to fix the problem.

Somebody posted a home-made fix for this as well. It's pretty detailed with pics. I've got it bookmarked on another computer, will try to post a link to it soon

That is my wiki page.... I have fixed several seats.... my procedure works quite well.... no movement in either of my seats.......

The seat movement almost drove me insane before I got mad and tore my passengers seat apart. Now I smile and laugh when I get someone else's truck and the seat moves.....

I heard from a friend that works at a dealer ship the tsb on bonding the aluminum block does not fix the problem long term.... he suggested metal washers.... I did not talk to him before I fixed mine I used nylon washers just in case the adjuster screw bit into the washer the nylon would tear apart..... metal would kill the motor
