Water In Door Speakers

Recommended Posts

Posted

My front passenger side speaker died for no apparent reason and could not figure out why. Amp is rated way lower than speaker and I do not turn it up that loud.

Changed out passenger speaker and it was all good. Then I pulled out the driver side to change it and water ran out of the speaker when I turned it over! How the hell would water be getting in my doors?? I dont wanna be swapping alpine component sets too often!!!!

If the leak can't be found or stopped, is there any way to stop it from reaching the speaker without causing noise or poor sound quality?

Thanks for any info

I had a customer with an issue like this about 5 years ago, so my memory isn't that great on it.

He said he found some sort of marine water proof baffel from Crutchfield or some retailer that he was able to fit the baffel in the door and it solves his issue.

Check the wiper on the outside of the window for cracks or gaps. Thats usually how water enters.

Pull the door panel, close the door and have some one with a hose spray water all over the door until you find the leak.

You could use a baffle but it won't help out door electronics.
