Tire And Wheel Size

I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado 4x4 Z71. I am buying a new set of tires and wheels. I also bought a Rough Country 2" leveling kit. The guy at the tire shop said that my new rims 18 x 9 with a -12 offset with 325/60/18 Toyo Open Country AT will fit without rubbing with the leveling kit.

Does anybody know if this is correct? Please help me!!! Not knowing for sure is making me nervous. I have read some threads that say "yes" and some say "No"

Thank you for your help with this.

Is it a GMT800 or a GMT900 truck? (both models were available in 2007).

If it's a GMT900, you WILL need to trim metal.

GMT800 you'll still need to trim.. not quite sure how much though.

 Thank you Matt,

Do you know what would be the biggest size tire that would fit without having to trim anything? I will still use the 2 inch leveling kit. I am not sure of the GMT number.

Thanks again,

it's the new body style. I actually talked to the owner of where I ordered my new rims and tires yesterday and he went though several sizes of tires on the computer and said that the 325/60/18's with a -12 offset 18 x 9 rim would fit and not rub..I sure hope he is right..I figured he is because that's what he does but then i started reading the forums and have heard several different things.

Thanks again for you input,

Be sure to let us know how it works out... and post up some pics.

By the way... here's how much I had to trim with 1" more lift than you, slightly smaller tires AND +18mm offset (which would rub less than -12 offset):

You're going to be an inch lower, with bigger tires, and wheels that stick out an inch further. If they don't rub i'll be amazed.

you are going to rub big time!!!! Also they are going to stick out alot!!

I had a set of 18x9 wheels with +10 offset with 285/65/18 tires and I have about 3.5" of lift. I was close to rubbing because of the offset. I had about .5" of clearance before I rubbed.

You are going to be sticking out about 1" to 1.5" more then mine did. Also the tire is taller by about .75". You will have to trim alot or get a 3" body lift and they should fit then.

This is how far mine stuck out, which isn't too bad.

Do these tire shops really have no clue or are they just trying to sell something? Or do you think they will trim and not tell? How can this guy sit there and claim it will fit when there is no chance it would even come close?

Thank ya'll for the info and pictures. I guess having to trim some metal is not the worst thing in the world right? Does anybody regret having to do that or is it worth it for the "look" .

What size tire would fit without any rubbing and still look good and have a little width and height to it?

I am going to call the shop today and see if it's too late to change the tire size theyare suppose to order.

while its not the end of the world and you wouldnt be able to tell if i didnt show you.... i wish i didnt have to trim that much metal.

unfortunately, i found out the hard way that when people on these forums say they "fit" tires, they often arent very truthfull. To me, no rubbing is acceptable... not even at full lock in reverse or pulling into an inclined driveway.
