Why Do A Pcm Update

I was at the dealer yesterday and i noticed they had a PCM update for 74.00. I am wanting to know if there is any benifit to doing this or if it would help my truck thanks

If you're running a custom or handheld "tune", you already have updated the PCM (to be purposely different than the GM program).

Don't do it!! If your truck has lasted this long, then I wouldn't change a thing. Plus if you have the diablo, what's the point, anyway, as it will change it back to what it had it at in the first place.

It's def. one of those "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of situations. The updates are for fixes or patches to the existing stock program. If your trucks running fine, shifting good, going in/out of 4x4, then don't do it. But if you having shifting issues, or engine issues maybe it would be worth it. What I'd do, is ask what the updates for and judge it from there.

I would think it's more of if you required a PCM update for whatever reason, it'll cost an extra $74. ;)

..or what they charge to "re-learn" a PCM... as in the crank re-learn for new PCMs

Well looking at these responses i think im gonna keep my 74.00 in my pocket. And my diablo tune is only set up for tow haul. I use it only when im towing with my trailer. Thanks guys

i've had mine done but it was to fix some retarded issues..odd shifting, random dic messages ETC...

No they just said it was recommended but as stated earlier its just to ge my money
