Exhaust Question

My truck is a 5.7 and comes with dual cats and exhaust up to the muffler, then its 2 in and 1 out single muffler. Its a 98 with original cats and the exhaust it rusted out before the muffler so i was gonna cut before the cats and go true duals. Being an old, high mileage truck, I dont wanna spend too much money . I have various mufflers and exhaust parts around from other vehicles that are brand new so I was gonna try to custom fab. My question is that I was gonna use two different types of mufflers. Would you notice a different sound coming from each pipe? I have a 2.5" muffler from a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT that I was gonna put on one side, and I was gonna use the factory 2.5" resonator from the Eclipse and the 2.5" magnaflow 4" round resonator that came with the cat-back that I didn't use, for the other side. Sounds crazy I know, but I have these parts kicking around and I was wondering if anyone else went true duals with different types of mufflers? I just don't want my truck to sound stupid. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If going with a true dual without a cross-over/H-pipe you may end up with more compression on one side than on the other, but being an older high mileage truck, you may not care

As for sound, if your going out behind the wheels one side will be louder than the other, if 2 pipes out under the bumper it won't sound so bad, as you will more than likely just hear the louder pipe and the sounds will combine

But my 2 cents, would be to pick up 2 glass-packs and throw on, then you have a true dual exhaust with the same muffler per side, plus their cheap and sound decent for what they cost

Newfmax, you raised an interesting point about having compression higher on one side. Is that bad for the engine, because I wouldn't want to cause extra stress on the engine because it does sound and run very well? I do agree with what you said about the glasspack cherrybombs, that was what I was originally gonna do! I was trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone; fix my exhaust and get some junk out of my garage. Lol. Thanks for the input my fellow newf. I am from the rock as well, been here In Edmonton for 6 yrs.
