Before I go ahead and do this, my brother Is picking up a new dirt bike. CRF 250. I was wondering if I have to leave the tailgate down or it will fit with it up. How many of you have a simliar dirtbikes and are able to close the tail gate. I have Ext Cab with Regular bed. Kind of a pet peeve of mine to have the tail gate down.

If you have the true "standard bed" that is 6'6" (actually measures 78.7") long it will fit with the tailgate closed. The problem is with the "short bed" which is 5'8" (actually measures 69.3") long.

you have to turn it sideways to close the gate, i know i have been hauling bikes in 6'6" beds for years, its not a big deal to leave it open, i leave it open and my gearbag loose in the back and it never slides around
