my a/c goes warm at idle. low side pressure is above the good field on the guage. when i rev the engine, it will start cooling, when i go back to idle, it goes to warm condition.

Check for debris between the condenser & radiator, & also check to be sure the front of condenser is clean, & fins are reasonably straight. Check the fan clutch -- make sure there is no side to side or up & down play, or any evidence of oil leakage around the shaft. If it's original, replace it anyway, regardless of how it looks. Make sure the shroud is in place & not modified in any way. Same goes for the fan itself - no aftermarket stuff.

I'm stuck in a time warp, so if you have no clutch -- just electric fans, then I would check the fans to make sure they are kicking on at the correct temps.

i will replace the clutch fan assembly, we've had the truck for 3 1/2 years, doesn't look as if it had ever been changed. thank you, and we'll go from there.

Everything said here is valid although I hate replacing things that are not confirmed bad. I usually run out of money before finding the problem.

See my pinned post on a/c advice on full size trucks forum.
