Chattering Noise From 5.3

I have a 06 w/ 5.3 I only get this every now and then, but when i accelerate hard where my RPM's are in the 4-5k range I will hear a chattering almost like a grinding teeth sound coming from my engine... I feel no lose of power , no codes , temp is fine , oil level good , it just happens random. My truck has about 39k on it now , and mechanically it has been great ! I run royal purple it it so i know it has great lubrication. I just hope this noise isnt a start to a big issue.

 

I average 13.7 mpg , so everything seems to be in line... Any ideas?

It sort of sounds like you might be getting spark knock. Could be from some bad gas. I see you have a 93 octane tune. Your ignition timing might need to be backed down a tad.

idk, its weird when it happens... Today i didnt hear it once!

you know, i have heard something similar on mine. I have the 93 tune also. When I used to have a '97 vette with the LS1 engine, I could hear noise similar, and I thought it was the valves or pre ignition. Turned out it was the injectors. They really are that loud. SO, i think our engines may just have loud injectors like the vette did.
