All of the pics that I have seen have a piece of vinyl or leather or some material coverint the center trim piece that hold the cassette deck and CD holder.  Probably because they couldn't match the grain or whatever.  If you flush mounted the screen, I don't see how there would be a problem.  Or you could get a "test piece" from a junk yard and try it on that one first, before you cut into yours.

Here is an idea.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1853034142&rd=1

I had this in my Suburban before I went to a Nav system.  It is still for sale.  If interested, send me a note at [email protected].

I've yet to see the screen flush mounted in that position. Everything I've seen mounts the unit in the remote cassette location with a flip up screen. Looks good!!

I'd like to see a screen flush mounted. Shouldn't be that difficult.

I'd get a test piece. Brand new they probably are around $25.

Just make sure you get a screen that has a molding piece around the edge so you can hide your cut lines.

I'm in Houston, I'd be willing to help you with the project.

I think Tom found a setup like you are looking for...

Performance Accessories I think...

Tom?

It was on the back of the center console, for the back seat passengers.  I wish they had a photo of it on their page.  It is in their current catalog though.

The dealer had to replace that panel where the cassette/cd storage goes on my truck (they broke it), and it was around $25
