hi there i have a 2001 2500hd w-6.0 ltr and was wondering if any one can tell me the ohm resestance specs on the spark plug wire's ,i want to check them before i just spend the money and replace them itjust has a little over 45,000 miles on it .thanks in advance .

not sue on oem specs, but i use msd wires on every vehicle i can and never had a problem

I usually went with the 1k per foot thing too. However out of curiousity I just pulled up the diag chart for a 99 Grand Prix and when you get to the wire check the spec is 7k. Those wires are between 2.5 and 3 feet in length which would make that spec somewhere in the 2500 ohm range.

 

I don't check them too often anymore because of the amount of times I had a cylinder missfire and checked the wire to have it test good that way but be bad when a spark was pushed through it. I'd just look at them and make the decision if there isn't a miss.

When I checked my old wires, they had around 550 ohms in them.
