Exhaust Question

Thinking about removing the exhaust system from the cat back and replacing it with 3.5" Maderal bend exhaust pipe (no muffler) then dumping it next to the spare tire after the axle?

What could the negative affects of this be, loss of back pressure, less power, smog issues.....anybody think of anything else?

BTW, 08 CC 5.3

Thanks!

3.5 is pretty big for a small block v-8. you will probably lose back pressure which will result in a loss of power and fuel economy. no smog issues though as your muffler only deadens sound and has nothing to do with emissions.

I agree. Stock gas engines need backpressure. No muffler, and 3.5" pipe isn't the best solution for a 5.3. If you had a 500 hp big block in your '08, then I'd say go for it...and post a video. :)
