how do you check for proper operation of the sensors? mine will ding one time (just before you hit the wall) also why are there two on each side of the bumper?

This is a guess, but two send out the signal and two receive it, using this change in reception time to judge distance.

Mine beeps faster and faster the closer you get to the wall and then a steady beep when you are about 4 inches away.

Mine works like Mark's beeps faster the closer that I get to something, then a solid.

but how can i tell if a sensor is bad?

If its bad - the moment you hit reverse - the light in the 'C' Column will turn red and you'll get a warning on the DIC console - 'service park assist' ..

 

the button below the radio package will be fully lit all the time regardless

Hmm, the sensors in my 09 GMC never go to a solid tone. The beep faster and faster but when it gets real close they just stop beeping. Also, the fastest beeps are at like 12" making them kind of useless. I am at 30,000 miles, should I bring it in?

This is the problem I have half the time. Sometimes they'll actually come on and work. What's this mean? What's bad here ?
