Steering Shaft Rattle 04 Burb

Greetings

 

Had my 04 burb steering shaft repaired like 3 times.. now its back again.

Can I just leave it and live with the sound or is there a real danger of my steering shaft breaking one day ?

One answer will fix it for good. Borgeson replacement shaft 000937.........

 

It will eventually DRIVE YOU NUTS. Failure of anything is possible. I would not say it is not a safety issue. Sooner or later it will cause a problem possibly, thou closer to later than sooner.

My 05 does it every 10-12000 kms or so. Take out the bolt that holds the upper and lower shafts together (under hood), then work the upper half of the shaft in and out to re-distribute the grease in it. Noise will magically go away.

 

Edit: Of course, put the shaft back together and put the bolt back in... I know I shouldn't have to say that but...

my 03 went thru 4 shafts. the last one installed by the dealer been good for over 20k mi. the lube and jerk will work. i wish they would just put a grease fitting in them and be done with it..
